Penang

This will be the first time we travelled as a family with Ye Ye, Nai Nai, Yi Sok, Gu Zhe, Gu Jiong, Gor Gor Evan and WeiEn. We went to Penang on the 19th and got back today after 4 days there. Although the logistics were quite a headache, Mummy and Gu Zhe managed to finalise all the details and successfully planned for the trip.

We travelled on AirAsia and stayed at the Golden Sands Shangrila Resort. The main objective of this trip was to spent time together as a family but secondary objectives were to let the children have fun at the resort and also to check out the famous Penang food. On the 19th when we got into Penang, Daddy arranged for a taxi to pick us up and the first stop was to New World City. We ordered like there was no tomorrow and ate like we have not eaten for days. There was Char Kuay Teow, Penang Laksa, Sang Mee, Curry Mee, Rojak, Chendol, Ice Kachang.

On the second day, after a sumptuous breakfast, we spent most of the time at the pools. Even I took a dip in the pool and had lots of fun. In the late afternoon, we decided to take the free shutter bus from the hotel to the town area. From the drop off point at Traders Hotel, we walked for about 10 mins to Sunway Hotel where there were lots of road side stalls with many selections. Again we ordered like we have not eaten for days but we managed to finish most of the food. Nai Nai felt that the food were not that great like before but still better and cheaper than in Singapore. After dinner, Daddy managed to arrange for a taxi van to come pick us up. It was quite a drive back to our hotel and we got a good price of MYR150.

Gor Gor Reuben turned 4 on the 21st and Mummy and Daddy wished him a Happy Birthday the moment  he woke up. Mummy initially planned a day of activities for the older kids at the Kids Zone with Coconut Bowling in the morning and cup cake making in the afternoon. However, when the adults went to visit them during the coconut bowling session, they were not at all impressed and decided that they should just skip the cup cake making and hit the pool instead. It was a great idea as we had more fun there in the pool. We played monkey in the pool and even saw an iguana swimming in the pool. Like the day before, we took the last free shutter bus at 4.30pm and asked to be dropped at Gurney Plaza. It is a big shopping center and we decided to have an early dinner at Old Town. After dinner, we decided to shop around and only got back to the hotel at about 9pm. We had a little birthday celebration in the room for Gor Gor Reuben and he was treated to some chocolate cake and more cartoons after that.

We all had a good time in Penang and will likely visit it again in the near future.

Gardens by the Bay

Gor Gor Reuben's school is closed today and Mummy and Daddy decided to take the day off to spend time with us.

We decided to check out Gardens by the Bay as we have not been there before. Many of Mummy's friends told her it is nice so thought we will go on a Monday to avoid the crowd. As Gor Gor Evan is on school holiday today, Daddy brought him along together with Nai Nai for the outing.

We bought tickets for the tram ride which brought us around the whole park in comfort. It is a very big park and especially with three kids around, Daddy and Mummy thought it was a better idea to confine everyone to the tram.

Our first stop was the Flower Dome. It is very big and cooling in there and we saw many different types of flowers and plants. I had a lot of fun running around inside the dome. Mummy had to watch over me as there are a couple of pretty rough slopes and it wouldn't be funny if i fell and bruised myself.

After the Flower Dome, we wanted to check out the Cloud Forest but unfortunately it was closed today for maintenance. We then move on to the OCBC Skyway. I like the Skyway as it brings me up very high and I can see a lot of things from the bridge that hangs in the sky. We took a lot of pictures here and spent some time looking at the tall buildings around Raffles Place. I saw Mummy and Daddy's office buildings too. Halfway through the walk on the Skyway, I fell asleep and Nai Nai had to put me back into the pram.

We had to cut short our visit to the park as there were dark clouds forming and besides it was lunch time. We headed to Chinese Swimming Club for lunch as it is usually not very crowded there during weekdays. We had a good time at the park and will probably come back again in the evening when the lights are on.

Paul

Gor Gor Reuben was at the church camp organised by ARPC for the weekend and so I get to spend the whole weekend with Mummy and Daddy. Usually it is only when Gor Gor Reuben is at his enrichment classes that I get to do this and it is usually for only a short period. Zhe Zhe Weien and Gor Gor Evan are at the same camp as well and I am looking forward to join them next time.

Mummy and Daddy decided to check out this nice place for breakfast. It is called Paul and apparently they have very nice french breakfast. Located in Taka, the restaurant was packed and we had to wait for a table. There were many families there and some brought their prams like we did. As I already had my porridge before coming here, Mummy tried to make me sleep so that Daddy and her can have a nice quiet breakfast. I decided to take a nap and leave them to enjoy their breakfast.
After spending some time walking around Taka and Wisma, Mummy and Daddy had to meet Gor Gor Reuben's teacher Ms. Jessica and Zhang Lao Shi at Pat's School for their 6 monthly PTM. Apparently Gor Gor Reuben is doing very well in school and as he is the youngest child in class, he is doing better than some of the older kids. Mummy and Daddy are very proud of him. I will following in his footstep and start school at Eton Schoolhouse first and maybe switch over to Pat's when I turn 3 years old. After the meeting, we headed to pick Gor Gor Reuben up.

Happy Diwali 2012

Today we celebrate Diwali or as it is more commonly called, the Festival of Lights. We woke up early and Mummy and Daddy decided we should go have Mee Pok Noodles at Jalan Tua Kong. It was quite crowded there and we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food. I got to try some of the noodles and I think I like it.

After breakfast, we headed to Uncle Som and Aunty Mou's house to give them a Diwali gift. It was a box of pastry with many types of goodies in there. Apparently Aunty Mou likes sweet stuff so she was really pleased to receive it. Mummy and Kor Kor Reuben were wearing the traditional India outfit and I must they look very nice. Unfortunately Daddy and I don't have any special outfits so we just wore something as close to an Indian outfit as possible.

In the afternoon, we headed to Aunty Ivy and Uncle Derrick's house to meet up with Mummy's friends. We celebrated Aunty Ivy's birthday with a nice cake. We also had lunch there which is the usual food that everyone will bring to share. I had quite a bit of fun as there were many Zhe Zhe there, 8 to be exact with Kor Kor Reuben as the only boy. With Aunty Irene's latest addition Eleanor, there are now 9 girls in the group. Lucky Kor Kor Reuben....

Kallang Riverside Park

Today is Hari Raya Haji and a public holiday. Mummy and Daddy decided to check out this new cafe called Loysel's Toy situated inside Kallang Riverside Park. The review for this cafe was not bad and usually crowded so we decided to get there early to avoid the crowd. Turned out it wasn't as crowded when we got there. However the selection was very limited and it didn't even have Gor Gor Reuben's pancakes. He did get his Babycino though and he was quickly pacified.

After breakfast, we proceeded to check out the park. Gor Gor Reuben brought his scooter and Daddy and Mummy were trying to teach him how to play with it.  At first he kept falling down but after a couple of times, he was riding it like he has been playing it for a long time. Mummy and Daddy were clearly impressed with him. I was running around the park and also having lots of fun. It was a very hot morning and after a while, I got tired and asked Daddy to carry me.

I Love My Brother

You will think by looking at this pictures that I am so sweet and feeding Gor Gor a piece of bread. The truth is it is Gor Gor's bread and I was gonna snatch it from him after taking the picture. But my Gor Gor loves me very much and decided that he will share the bread with me. In fact, I got most of the bread... See the bread in my hand?

Singapore Flyer

Mummy bought tickets for the Singapore Flyer from Groupon and decided we will go check it out today after Gor Gor Reuben's classes in the morning. She also got deals for Popeye's which is very unusual given that Daddy doesn't really approve of fast food. I guess since Daddy hasn't tried Popeye's before so Mummy just wanted him to try it.

There were about 15 people in the same capsule and it looked like most of them were locals. It was quite hazy that day so we couldn't really see as far as we wanted to. I had fun roaming around with my smelly pillow while Gor Gor Reuben was checking out the sights from the higher vantage point.

1 Year Party @ Fika

I will turn 1 year old on the 3rd Sept. How time flies... It was barely 12 months ago I was delivered in Mount Alvernia and now I am celebrating my 1 year old birthday.

Mummy and Daddy decided to have my party at Fika at Millennia Walk. They have always enjoyed the food at Fika from their Arab Street outlet and thought it will be nice to share this nice restaurant with their friends. The lady who owns this restaurant together with her Swedish husband is very nice. She was very helpful towards Mummy as she helped her planned my birthday party. She even bought me a nice present for my party! Isn't she sweet....

We had a great time at the party, although there wasn't quite enough seats inside the restaurant. It was meant to take about 70 persons but I think that includes the outside seating. It was such a hot day today no one was quite prepared to sit outside and so everyone cramped inside the restaurant. Mummy and Daddy even hired a balloon sculptor and he was such a hit with the other kids as he could make many different designs from Angry Birds to Pink Panther, you name it, he'll make it.

Mummy and Daddy were happy with the party... I am too... Thank you all for being there today!

Port of Lost Wonder

Today is Nai Nai's birthday and also the Hari Raya public holiday. We decided we'll spend the day with everyone at Sentosa at the new Port of Lost Wonder because Kor Kor Evan said it is very nice and that we should try. It was a very hot  day but it didn't stop anyone from going there. While waiting to get tickets for the water park, we bumped into Kayne Jin and Asher. We were suppose to join them but wasn't sure if we could make it there so we had to plan separately.

The park is very big and had this big pirate ship in the middle just like the one at The Zoo. In fact the whole set up looks very similar to the one at the The Zoo except that this one has more sitting area and picnic area around the water park.

Kor Kor Reuben had a good time with Kor Kor Evan going down the slides and playing with the various water features. Jie Jie WeiEn was not too keen and did not really join them for most of the time. I was with Nai Nai, Ye Ye and Mummy at the picnic area they call The Hatch Patch. Except for the hot weather and the crowd, everyone had fun. We had to leave early because Daddy had to catch a flight to Bangkok in the evening for his business trip.

Choupinette

Nai Nai is away in Genting so Mummy and Daddy took the day off to spend time with me and also to bring Gor Gor Reuben out in the afternoon. Together with Mummy and Daddy, we had breakfast at this very interesting restaurant called Choupinette. Mummy found out about it from her friend so they decided to check it out. They seem to have enjoyed the food judging from the cleaned out plates left behind. And I think Daddy would have loved to stay a little longer to chill if not for the fact that I kept coughing, probably from the air con there.

After picking Gor Gor Reuben up from school at around 12.30, we headed to the Singapore Art Museum where they are having their annual children's exhibition and the theme this time is The Art Garden. We walked around the different rooms and there were interesting exhibitions and fun activities for children but unfortunately I could only watch while Mummy carried me around. We didn't stay very long as apparently last year's exhibition was better than this year's. We ended up at Food for Thought for something to eat instead. Gor Gor had a blast with ice cream taken from Daddy's root beer float. I was just busy with my biscuit sticks.

My First Diamond

Diamond is a girl's best friend.. regardless how small it is.

After weeks of deliberation and asking around, Mummy decided that it is time I get my ears pierced before I grow older and starts to resist the pain. While we were having lunch at Adam's Road Hawker Centre after church today, Mummy was talking to Gu Zhe and convinced her that Wei En Zhe Zhe should also have her ears pierced, much to the delight of Gu Jeong who hasn't been able to convince her.

We went over to B'dazzled at Wisma Atria where Mummy has found to be reliable from her friends. Something strange and sweet happened to Gor Gor Evan who, after realizing that his sister will be getting her ears pierced, started crying because he feels her pain. Daddy had to bring both Gor Gor Evan and Reuben away in case they created a scene. They were treated to ice cream while the girls were getting their first diamonds attached.

Mummy and Daddy were very proud of me as I didn't cry very much after having my ears pierced. I was pacified with my bottle of milk which was very important to me. Mummy is very happy with her decision because I look very pretty with the diamond studs. Thanks Mummy and Daddy for the 9th Month present.

Asher's Birthday Party

We celebrated Asher's 1 year old birthday party today at Food for Thought at The Botanic Gardens. Cindy Yee Yee blocked off a part of the restaurant expecting about 40 adults and 10 children to attend. Unfortunately, some of Uncle Ivan's relatives came down with HFMD so couldn't make it. There were quite a lot of food for those who were there. I was sleeping when we got there and only woke up halfway through the party. Happy Birthday Asher!

8 Months Check

Mummy brought me for my 8th month check up at Marine Parade Polyclinic today. At the same time, I was also given the 6 in 1 vaccination. Mummy was very proud of me as I didn't cry much after the injection. During the check up, the nurse took my measurements and I now weigh 8.3kg and my height is 71cm. Apparently I didn't gain very much compared to my last check up when I was 6 months old. Nonetheless, Mummy and Daddy were very proud that I was able to flip at 4 months, sit steadily at 6.5 months and crawl at 7 months. I can now stand supported on my own and I occasionally even take mini steps. Mummy and Daddy are hoping I can start walking before I turn one year old.

First Visit to KK Hospital

I have been pretty healthy all this while and seldom fell sick. In the last 7 months, I probably only checked out Dr Appan once for some skin irritation. Like they always say, when it rains, it really pours. I am not sure if Gor Gor Reuben passed the fever and cough to me or vice versa, but we both started coughing pretty badly since Sunday. My temperature went up to as high as 39.5 degrees Celsius. I know some other kids have gotten it worse and made it through pretty ok but Mummy and Daddy wasn't gonna take any chances. Even though it is May Day holiday today, they decided to bring me to KK Hospital. Daddy even said he has heard me cry more in the last 2 days than the whole of the last 7 months.

Thank goodness it wasn't very crowded at the hospital. We managed to see a doctor almost immediately after we registered. The doctor suggested that the best I can get, for my age, is a sponge down and some paracetamol. Mummy and Daddy were really relieved to know that nothing serious has happened to me, probably the growth of more teeth has caused the fever. I had to take some urine samples to make sure there is no other infection. Unfortunately I kept missing the pouch and had to spend like another 2 hours just to get a few drops. Thank goodness the results were normal..
Reuben.. "It's ok Mei Mei Andrea.
You will be fine soon."
Reuben.. "Gor Gor will make you
laugh with these moves. Hiya.."

Mummy.. "It's ok Andrea, don't unpack my bag cos we
are not going to stay over at the hospital"

Happy Birthday Yi Sok

Yi Sok is back from Dubai for about 10 days and he planned it such that he is back on his birthday. We were very excited cos we will get to sing the birthday song and blow the candles and cut the cake. It was a pity Ye Ye was not back from Batam otherwise it would have been perfect.

First 2 teeth

For the last couple of days, my motion has been light greenish and that has gotten Mummy a little concerned. Something is just not very right but Mummy couldn't quite put a finger to it. She suspected that maybe I am teething but I am barely just 6 months old, it is not possible that I am teething so early.

However Nai Nai announced today that I am teething cos she felt something growing at the bottom of my gums. Daddy was very happy that I have reached another milestone. And Mummy was right when she suspected that I was teething. I cannot wait to start eating something instead of always drinking milk.

I am a happy girl

Mummy and Daddy say that I am such a happy girl. I am always smiling and always looking so calm and peaceful. And they are always very amused at how easily I laugh. Here are just a couple of videos to prove that.

4th Month Vaccination

I have just passed my 4th month and had to go for my vaccination today at the Marine Parade Polyclinic. After dropping Gor Gor Reuben at his new school, Daddy drove us to the Polyclinic. We didn't need to wait very long for our turn. The nurse did the usual questioning and scheduled the next appointment. I now measure 6.815kg and 63.5cm. The nurse said I am in the higher percentile in terms of my height. I was very good and cried only a little when I had the injection. Mummy and Daddy were very proud of me.
