Ideal Saturday

It is the end of the year and all of the enrichment classes on Saturday have been cancelled, including Gor Gor Reuben's tennis class. So we woke up late and lazed in bed for a while and even got a chance to watch a couple of episodes of Peppa Pig on Mummy's new iPad Air.

We then headed to Marine Crescent for brunch and had our usual roast duck noodles and roti prata. After brunch, we headed to Chinese Swimming Club and Daddy and Gor Gor Reuben played a game of bowling. I was too young to play with them so I just walked around and watch them play.

After bowling, we headed to the children's pool for a swim. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday afternoon which was good for us. We almost had the whole pool to ourselves. I got introduced to the water slides and love it so much I couldn't stop. Daddy said i was very daring and cannot imagine when I am older and starts to swim. We played in the pool until the weather threatened to rain and we had to get up.

We ended an ideal Saturday with more roti prata and our favorite water melon juice at the club's cafe. Unfortunately this will be the last Saturday we can do this as the arduous schedule will start next week when school reopens. Oh well, we had fun while it lasted.

LegoLand

Finally we are on our way to Legoland. After several failed attempts to agree on a date, Mummy and Aunty Mavis decided we will head to Legoland today.

Daddy decided to drive up while Uncle Yew Leong wanted to take it easy and decided to engage a driver to bring them to the hotel we are staying. We arrived at Hotel Granada at about the same time at 10am this morning. From there it was about a 10 mins drive to Legoland.

Thank goodness there was no crowd when we gotthere. In fact we were told the school holiday starts tomorrow so we are spared from the long queues at the rides. Indeed it was almost no queues at most of the rides. We went on to the roller coasters, both the mild and also the scarier one. We enjoyed both of them.

Unfortunately it started raining in the afternoon and we had to spend about an hour waiting for the rain to go away. By which time we decided we should head to the Waterpark as it closes at 6pm sharp. We had more fun at the Waterpark although the most exciting rides were not available to us as we were less then 120cm tall. Nonetheless it was fun floating around the park with Lego blocks floating around us. We also spend quite a bit of time at the small water slides. Even I had lots of fun with the slides.

We were literally chased out of the park at 6pm sharp. We headed to Old Town for dinner and although it was not as good as expected, we were hungry so anything was good enough. We then headed back to the hotel and after a hot shower, we fell asleep quite quickly before 8pm.

The next day, we decided to check out Hello Kitty Town. At first Daddy thought it was another park like Legoland so we drove around trying to locate the park. After driving in circles for about 45 mins, we finally found it and it was actually indoors and occupies less than maybe 2 basketball court size. We were utterly disappointed but went ahead to explore nonetheless. There was only one ride within the town and it was the tea cup ride. It was quite pathetic but we took it nonetheless and tried to make the most of it. There was a Hello Kitty show at about 1pm and after watching it, we headed back to Singapore.

Turning 2

I turn 2 today. With a bit more hair compared to about 18 months ago, I think I look kinda different now. Daddy would like to think I am more girly now with more and long hair. For some strange reasons, I still cry a lot when Mummy is around. Daddy says I am quite easy to look after when I am alone with him. Nai Nai agrees completely.

Daddy and Mummy decided against throwing a party for me this year. Instead I will be having 3 mini parties. First at Bishan last Friday, then another at home yesterday and the final in school today.

Picnic at the Barrage

Gor Gor Reuben didn't have Yamaha class today, so Mummy and Daddy planned for something different in the afternoon. We are going to have a picnic at The Singapore Barrage. We have always wanted to have a picnic there but just never got the chance before as most of our weekends are spent having classes.

The weather was threatening to be a dampener at about 3pm but Mummy and Daddy decided to have faith and prepared for the picnic anyway. They prepared snacks, fruits, sandwiches and Daddy even cooked some spaghetti in case we decided to be hungry after running around at the Barrage.

Thank goodness the weather held up and when we got there, it was really crowded with many people flying kites and small groups of people having picnic. The atmosphere was very fun and relax with everyone just having a good time. We picked a spot right in the middle of the park and laid out our mats. Then Mummy took out the food and I started getting busy attacking the food. Gor Gor Reuben was running around and checking out the kites. He also played soccer with Daddy but after a while he managed to get a group of Gor Gors and Jie Jies to play with him. I was eating most of the time but occasionally I played with the bubbles we bought at the Heartland Mall the day before.

We had lots of fun and didn't want to leave even though it was already getting late. There was another group of Gor Gors and Jie Jies who was willing to play with Gor Gor Reuben so Mummy and Daddy could just relax and eat the leftover they brought for the picnic. We left the park at about 8pm and by the time we got home and showered and hit the bed, it was already about 10pm. It was another fun day. Thank you Mummy and Daddy.

Singapore Discovery Centre

We celebrate our 48th National Day today and Mummy and Daddy decided to bring us to the Singapore Discovery Centre. Apparently Mummy heard from Aunty Kelly that it is very fun and exciting. So we got Uncle Jason and Janessa to join us.

We got there at about 1.30pm after spending the morning at Bishan for breakfast with Ma Ma and Gong Gong. It was free admission for Singaporeans and PRs but we had to pay for the Meerkat show. Mummy decided I wouldn't like it so she opted not to watch it.

The centre was ok, not as fun and exciting as we had hoped it to be. There were some interesting stations but by and large we wouldn't have paid to go there. We had something to eat before the Meerkat show and it was quite nice as the dining area overlooked a little man made lake.

Cultural Diversity Day

Today we celebrated Cultural Diversity Day together with National Day Etonhouse. Mummy and Daddy commented that I don't have as many events in school compared to when Gor Gor Reuben was there 2 years back. Maybe it was cost cutting for them too.

We got there kinda early after dropping Gor Gor Reuben in school. So Ms Margaret suggested Mummy and Daddy go for some coffee and come back at around 10am when there will be a cake cutting session.

There were not many things to play with at the event except for a flower decorating section where I got to decorate a pot of Orchid flower. Other than the flower decoration, nothing much was different from the usual. I took a picture with Ms Karoline and Chen Laoshi.

We had some extra snack during the celebration and I was quite happy to be given some nice food. Mummy and Daddy watched me eat as they chatted with Ms Renee about my development in school. They left shortly and I was not too happy and cried a little.

First National Day Parade

Mummy tried to ballot for this year's National Day Parade and like the previous years, she did not get any tickets to either the actual day parade nor the preview. And in the spirit of celebrating our National Day and also to let us have a feel of what National Day Parade is all about, she decided to book a room at Mandarin Oriental so that we can see the preview of the parade.

After Gor Gor Reuben's Yamaha class, we drove to Marine Parade and picked up Jie Jie Janessa's birthday cake before heading to Mandarin Oriental. We wanted to have a swim before watching the parade but time was not on our side, plus Jie Jie Janessa couldn't make it earlier so we just lazed around in the room and waited for Godpa and Jie Jie Janessa to show up.

The parade started at about 5.30pm and it was quite boring at first. This was partly also because we could see what was going on but couldn't really hear the sound. It was only after 6.30pm when it started getting more exciting with the parachuters and planes flying pass. When it was approaching 8.15pm, Mummy said the fireworks will be starting soon and it was really beautiful when we saw the fireworks. It lasted quite a while and when we thought it was all over, there was a grand finale 5 mins later and more fireworks were displayed.

We sang Jie Jie Janessa her birthday song and she was really happy although she didn't look so. Apparently that is how she look when she celebrated her party in school. We had a lot of fun eating the cake which was made most with cream which Daddy didn't know when he order it. When it was time for Jie Jie Janessa to go home, we were all very sad. Daddy said we will meet very soon and that made it easier.

The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Thank goodness we went down early cos when we were leaving, there was a queue of at least 20 people waiting to go in for breakfast. We then proceeded to the pool and had a great time swimming. At one point, the wind was so strong it blew some of the umbrella stands away. And then it started to rain so we had to take shelter in one of the marquee but thank goodness it only lasted 10 mins and after that we continue to swim again. We checked out of the room at 1pm.

First Sentence

I said my first full sentence today to Mummy and I said, "Mummy, Don't do thaaaaaat!" Apparently Mummy was picking up the crumbs on the floor which I dropped but for some reason, I was telling her not to do that.

I also attended my first Sunday School today at ARPC. It was quite fun and there were many other children there with me so it was ok. We sang songs and also watched some biblical video. Now Mummy and Daddy can listen to the sermon in peace. They must be quite relieved.

Scootering

I had my first taste of scootering today. And this was made possible cos Gor Gor Reuben got a new Strider bike so he agreed to let me try out the scooter. Mummy had bought me knee and elbow guards sometime ago for this occasion and finally I got to use them. I think I look kinda cool in those gears.

It was quite easy for me actually. Daddy says I am a natural at this as I looked like I have been doing this a long time when it is actually my first time. I fell a couple of times but that was not going to stop me from trying to master this piece of equipment.

I am looking forward to the next time I get to try on the scooter.

Away from the Haze

When the PSI hit 400 on the morning of 21st June 2013 in Singapore, there was a certain level of panic in some people. Mummy and Daddy were some of these people. When Daddy looked out of his office and all he could see was just plain white, something wasn't quite right. Like what Aunty Charlene in Daddy's office said, it looked like Genting without the cold temperature. They decided it was not safe to be staying around and frantically booked tickets out to Bangkok. The earliest available tickets were on Sunday morning and when we were on the plane this morning flying into
Bangkok, we were quite sure there were many others who felt the same as Daddy and Mummy as the plane was full. This was something you would see at the beginning of the week, perhaps to take advantage of a long weekend, and not something which happens on a Sunday morning.
By the time we checked into Grand Centre Point Hotel at Terminal 21, it was almost 2pm. It could have been later if not for the fact that we were ushered into the priority queue at the immigration because of me and Andrea. The were easily 1,000 people waiting to go through the checkpoint. The room was perfect and Mummy couldn't be happier with the king size bed and beautiful decoration.

We freshened up and quickly headed back to the lobby and asked for a cab to Erawan Bangkok where Nara Cuisine was located. Daddy had been there before and he loved the food so wanted us to try it too. Unfortunately there was a jam along the road and what could have been only 15 minutes on the BTS turned out to be an hour in the cab. Daddy was frustrated as he was hungry and knew that having 4 hungry people stuck in a jam was dangerous. Thank goodness Andrea and I fell asleep and that lessen
the frustration in him. When we finally got there, Daddy ordered like there is no tomorrow and surprisingly we finished all the food. It was good and Andrea and I liked the deep fried spring roll because we got to dip it in the sweet sauce. We ended lunch with their local version of Chendo and we had fun cos they gave us like 8 toppings and we could take whatever we like, as much as we like. It was awesome!

After lunch, we walked over to Central World and although Mummy and Daddy wanted to shop around, it was not going to happen with Andrea and me around. So we ended up amusing ourselves at the photo booth and even managed to get a couple of nice pictures.
We also spent some time in Boots cos there were somethings Mummy and Daddy found here that were not available back home. Finally we ended at the supermarket where we bought Andrea's diapers and by that time, we were all pooped and Daddy had to carry Andrea all the way to Chitlom BTS station for the train back as we were not going to get stuck in the jam for another hour. By the time we got back to the hotel, it was already 8pm and after a good shower, we headed straight to bed. It was a good first day in Bangkok. Tomorrow we will be going to the Safari World. I cannot wait....

Pat's Schoolhouse Family Day

Today is Gor Gor Reuben's school's family day and they celebrated it at Sentosa. Mummy and Daddy took the day off to spend it with him and brought me along too. It was wonderful to have the whole family there.

Unfortunately, due to 4 cases of HFMD in the K1 cohort, the teachers decided to cancel the water play at POLW and replaced it with a family treasure hunt. Gor Gor Reuben was very very disappointed that there wasn't any water play as he was really looking forward to that. Well at least we got on to the cable car and explored some parts of Sentosa.

We gathered at The Jewel Box at 8.30am and because there were very few parking spaces, many parents were delayed as they had to find parking elsewhere. We only started at about 9.15am and by that time, Gor Gor Reuben had already fallen into the pond accidentally and got himself all wet. Mummy and Daddy were initially annoyed that he was not careful but they got upset with him when he started crying and insisted on changing his clothes but there weren't any spare clothes for him. After some whining, he got over it and decided to join his friends.

We took the cable car over to Sentosa Island and after some treasure hunting together with Ethan Yum and his daddy Uncle Justin and a pit stop at McDonald's for some chocolate sundaes and fries, we completed the race and headed back to The Jewel Box for lunch. Lunch was simple but enough and after the prize giving, we were dismissed at 2pm.

The fun didn't stop there. Mummy had arranged for a stay cation over at Amara Sanctuary since we were around that area. We checked into the hotel and after some packing, we headed to the beach to build some sand castles. We dipped our feet in the seawater and even had fun at the nearby playground. At 5pm, we headed to the nearby animal sanctuary where there was a performance involving eagles, macaws, a monkey, a snake and some other birds. We had a good time watching the animals perform.

After the show, we took a tram and headed to the Luge where Daddy and Gor Gor Reuben had their first experience with the Luge. As I was too small, Mummy took me and we waited for the boys at Starbucks. I think Gor Gor Reuben had a lot of fun and wanted more but it was getting dark so we had to look for dinner and then headed back to the hotel.

The next morning, Mummy and Daddy surprised us with a morning swim at the rooftop pool. It was fun as we played in the jacuzzi pool. We also had our water guns and had fun shooting at Daddy and Mummy.

We checked out of the hotel at about 10.30am. I had great fun at Sentosa.

First Day at School

I reached another milestone today as I started school at Eton Schoolhouse Mountbatten 717. This was the same school that Gor Gor Reuben went to when he turned 18 months. Some of the teachers who used to teach him were still there and they remembered him very well. I was suppose to start yesterday but Daddy couldn't make it so I had to start my play date today. I will come in for an hour from 9.30am for this week to get used to the new environment, new friends and teachers. Nai Nai will come get me home. From next week onwards, I will be in school for the whole day till about 5pm.

I had a lot of fun in school as there were many new toys at the playground. Ms Judy could remember Gor Gor Reuben's favorite toy as I also picked out the same toy. There were many children there on play dates too as they just started going to school. Some of them will probably be my classmates.

Nai Nai was afraid I might not sit still when she drives me home so she brought some munchies for me. It was not really necessary as shortly after I sat down and Nai Nai drove off, I fell asleep. In fact, I continue sleeping after I got home until about 1.30pm. Nai Nai wondered what I did in that one hour in school.

Picnic by the Beach

Today Mummy and Daddy decided to do something special. We were planning for dinner and they thought maybe we should try having a picnic by the beach.

So after Gor Gor Reuben's Yamaha music class, we headed to Cold Storage and bought some food for Mummy to prepare for our picnic dinner. Gor Gor and I were supposed to get a catnap once we get home so that Mummy can prepare the dinner. He did but I didn’t and Daddy had to entertain me.

Just when we were getting ready to leave the house, we noticed that the skyline was filled with dark clouds. Mummy and Daddy decided that we should just go anyway, maybe the clouds will drift away. We were very hopeful until we were at the beach and the rain started pouring. We decided to wait out, hoping that it was just a passing shower.

After 15 mins in the car, the rain stopped and we decided that we should just go out anyway. We headed to a sheltered area where Mummy fed us our dinner. And when we finished our dinner, I was able to run around the park and Gor Gor Reuben was playing with his scooter. We had a great time at the beach and had to leave when it started getting dark.
