First Day at School

I reached another milestone today as I started school at Eton Schoolhouse Mountbatten 717. This was the same school that Gor Gor Reuben went to when he turned 18 months. Some of the teachers who used to teach him were still there and they remembered him very well. I was suppose to start yesterday but Daddy couldn't make it so I had to start my play date today. I will come in for an hour from 9.30am for this week to get used to the new environment, new friends and teachers. Nai Nai will come get me home. From next week onwards, I will be in school for the whole day till about 5pm.

I had a lot of fun in school as there were many new toys at the playground. Ms Judy could remember Gor Gor Reuben's favorite toy as I also picked out the same toy. There were many children there on play dates too as they just started going to school. Some of them will probably be my classmates.

Nai Nai was afraid I might not sit still when she drives me home so she brought some munchies for me. It was not really necessary as shortly after I sat down and Nai Nai drove off, I fell asleep. In fact, I continue sleeping after I got home until about 1.30pm. Nai Nai wondered what I did in that one hour in school.

Picnic by the Beach

Today Mummy and Daddy decided to do something special. We were planning for dinner and they thought maybe we should try having a picnic by the beach.

So after Gor Gor Reuben's Yamaha music class, we headed to Cold Storage and bought some food for Mummy to prepare for our picnic dinner. Gor Gor and I were supposed to get a catnap once we get home so that Mummy can prepare the dinner. He did but I didn’t and Daddy had to entertain me.

Just when we were getting ready to leave the house, we noticed that the skyline was filled with dark clouds. Mummy and Daddy decided that we should just go anyway, maybe the clouds will drift away. We were very hopeful until we were at the beach and the rain started pouring. We decided to wait out, hoping that it was just a passing shower.

After 15 mins in the car, the rain stopped and we decided that we should just go out anyway. We headed to a sheltered area where Mummy fed us our dinner. And when we finished our dinner, I was able to run around the park and Gor Gor Reuben was playing with his scooter. We had a great time at the beach and had to leave when it started getting dark.

Dragon Playground

Whenever Daddy drives pass the Dragon Playground, Mummy and Daddy will always say they should go check it out soon before someone tears it down. Dragon Playground is located at Block 28 Toa Payoh Lorong 6, opposite the new SAFRA Club in Toa Payoh.

Finally today we got to see the playground. It is one of those very old playground that Mummy and Daddy used to play at. Not this same one but similar Dragon design ones elsewhere. When we parked our car at Block 28, it was very quiet because apparently the whole building has been vacated and it looked a little spooky. The playground was dirty with lots of leaves lying around. No one has been maintaining it since they are probably going to tear down the whole building.

I was sleeping when we got there but Mummy insisted that we should not miss this chance to show Gor Gor Reuben and I the playground they used to play at. The metal bars were all rusty and the sand were damp. I woke up after a while and got to slide down the concrete slide. We didn't stay long cos we started getting mosquito bites and Daddy was worried they could be carrying Dengue so we left after 20 minutes. Daddy and Mummy promised that they will find us another old playground that is still functional.

Penang

This will be the first time we travelled as a family with Ye Ye, Nai Nai, Yi Sok, Gu Zhe, Gu Jiong, Gor Gor Evan and WeiEn. We went to Penang on the 19th and got back today after 4 days there. Although the logistics were quite a headache, Mummy and Gu Zhe managed to finalise all the details and successfully planned for the trip.

We travelled on AirAsia and stayed at the Golden Sands Shangrila Resort. The main objective of this trip was to spent time together as a family but secondary objectives were to let the children have fun at the resort and also to check out the famous Penang food. On the 19th when we got into Penang, Daddy arranged for a taxi to pick us up and the first stop was to New World City. We ordered like there was no tomorrow and ate like we have not eaten for days. There was Char Kuay Teow, Penang Laksa, Sang Mee, Curry Mee, Rojak, Chendol, Ice Kachang.

On the second day, after a sumptuous breakfast, we spent most of the time at the pools. Even I took a dip in the pool and had lots of fun. In the late afternoon, we decided to take the free shutter bus from the hotel to the town area. From the drop off point at Traders Hotel, we walked for about 10 mins to Sunway Hotel where there were lots of road side stalls with many selections. Again we ordered like we have not eaten for days but we managed to finish most of the food. Nai Nai felt that the food were not that great like before but still better and cheaper than in Singapore. After dinner, Daddy managed to arrange for a taxi van to come pick us up. It was quite a drive back to our hotel and we got a good price of MYR150.

Gor Gor Reuben turned 4 on the 21st and Mummy and Daddy wished him a Happy Birthday the moment  he woke up. Mummy initially planned a day of activities for the older kids at the Kids Zone with Coconut Bowling in the morning and cup cake making in the afternoon. However, when the adults went to visit them during the coconut bowling session, they were not at all impressed and decided that they should just skip the cup cake making and hit the pool instead. It was a great idea as we had more fun there in the pool. We played monkey in the pool and even saw an iguana swimming in the pool. Like the day before, we took the last free shutter bus at 4.30pm and asked to be dropped at Gurney Plaza. It is a big shopping center and we decided to have an early dinner at Old Town. After dinner, we decided to shop around and only got back to the hotel at about 9pm. We had a little birthday celebration in the room for Gor Gor Reuben and he was treated to some chocolate cake and more cartoons after that.

We all had a good time in Penang and will likely visit it again in the near future.

Gardens by the Bay

Gor Gor Reuben's school is closed today and Mummy and Daddy decided to take the day off to spend time with us.

We decided to check out Gardens by the Bay as we have not been there before. Many of Mummy's friends told her it is nice so thought we will go on a Monday to avoid the crowd. As Gor Gor Evan is on school holiday today, Daddy brought him along together with Nai Nai for the outing.

We bought tickets for the tram ride which brought us around the whole park in comfort. It is a very big park and especially with three kids around, Daddy and Mummy thought it was a better idea to confine everyone to the tram.

Our first stop was the Flower Dome. It is very big and cooling in there and we saw many different types of flowers and plants. I had a lot of fun running around inside the dome. Mummy had to watch over me as there are a couple of pretty rough slopes and it wouldn't be funny if i fell and bruised myself.

After the Flower Dome, we wanted to check out the Cloud Forest but unfortunately it was closed today for maintenance. We then move on to the OCBC Skyway. I like the Skyway as it brings me up very high and I can see a lot of things from the bridge that hangs in the sky. We took a lot of pictures here and spent some time looking at the tall buildings around Raffles Place. I saw Mummy and Daddy's office buildings too. Halfway through the walk on the Skyway, I fell asleep and Nai Nai had to put me back into the pram.

We had to cut short our visit to the park as there were dark clouds forming and besides it was lunch time. We headed to Chinese Swimming Club for lunch as it is usually not very crowded there during weekdays. We had a good time at the park and will probably come back again in the evening when the lights are on.

Paul

Gor Gor Reuben was at the church camp organised by ARPC for the weekend and so I get to spend the whole weekend with Mummy and Daddy. Usually it is only when Gor Gor Reuben is at his enrichment classes that I get to do this and it is usually for only a short period. Zhe Zhe Weien and Gor Gor Evan are at the same camp as well and I am looking forward to join them next time.

Mummy and Daddy decided to check out this nice place for breakfast. It is called Paul and apparently they have very nice french breakfast. Located in Taka, the restaurant was packed and we had to wait for a table. There were many families there and some brought their prams like we did. As I already had my porridge before coming here, Mummy tried to make me sleep so that Daddy and her can have a nice quiet breakfast. I decided to take a nap and leave them to enjoy their breakfast.
After spending some time walking around Taka and Wisma, Mummy and Daddy had to meet Gor Gor Reuben's teacher Ms. Jessica and Zhang Lao Shi at Pat's School for their 6 monthly PTM. Apparently Gor Gor Reuben is doing very well in school and as he is the youngest child in class, he is doing better than some of the older kids. Mummy and Daddy are very proud of him. I will following in his footstep and start school at Eton Schoolhouse first and maybe switch over to Pat's when I turn 3 years old. After the meeting, we headed to pick Gor Gor Reuben up.

Happy Diwali 2012

Today we celebrate Diwali or as it is more commonly called, the Festival of Lights. We woke up early and Mummy and Daddy decided we should go have Mee Pok Noodles at Jalan Tua Kong. It was quite crowded there and we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food. I got to try some of the noodles and I think I like it.

After breakfast, we headed to Uncle Som and Aunty Mou's house to give them a Diwali gift. It was a box of pastry with many types of goodies in there. Apparently Aunty Mou likes sweet stuff so she was really pleased to receive it. Mummy and Kor Kor Reuben were wearing the traditional India outfit and I must they look very nice. Unfortunately Daddy and I don't have any special outfits so we just wore something as close to an Indian outfit as possible.

In the afternoon, we headed to Aunty Ivy and Uncle Derrick's house to meet up with Mummy's friends. We celebrated Aunty Ivy's birthday with a nice cake. We also had lunch there which is the usual food that everyone will bring to share. I had quite a bit of fun as there were many Zhe Zhe there, 8 to be exact with Kor Kor Reuben as the only boy. With Aunty Irene's latest addition Eleanor, there are now 9 girls in the group. Lucky Kor Kor Reuben....
